The concept for the foundation was developed as a result of a need to recognize the importance and cultural significance that chuck wagon racing has had on our community for the past 92 years. In addition to preserving our western heritage, the foundation’s objectives include establishing the Grande Prairie Stompede as a top “Dash for Cash” event that will attract even greater competition and increased fan attendance.

Recognizing that Grande Prairie is home to some of the greatest chuckwagon competitors, both past and present, including several generations of Sutherland, Vigen, and Sinclair, this foundation will work toward showcasing past photos, race memorabilia, and information for access by the general public.

Long term goals include working in conjunction with all organizations to make our Stompede one of the top agricultural events in Western Canada! Subsequent increased tourism and attendance figures will result in significant financial gain in fuel, grocery, restaurant, and retail sales – a direct result of supporting our western heritage – professional chuck wagon racing!
